66 Things To Feel Good About Today
Since day to day life can get us down from time to time, I decided to start a list of things to feel thankful for some time back. Each day I added another to the list, and now it helps me feel more upbeat even on days when my team is being trounced or I get to the stop just in time to see the bus speed by. Here are 66 things that I felt good about... some of these might make you smile a little too, or maybe start your own "happy list".
- Living in the golden age of communications making it easy to keep in touch with family and friends half a world away
- Still having a good amount of energy even as I hit middle age
- Finding good people everywhere I've been so far
- Living in an area where I feel pretty safe to walk along the street
- Sports, a common language, never more apparent than times when the World Cup is on
- Actually liking oatmeal, a healthy food that helps me keep my cholesterol in check
- And, for being in generally good health of course, without which nothing much else matters
- Nice meals no matter how humble and having people to share them with
- Home computers and how easy they make it to create websites like this!
- Jumping in a nice cool shower on a steamy hot day
- Public galleries and museums and how they can influence and inspire us
- Having people who show faith in me
- Enjoying good mobility, something so apparent to me everytime I see someone confined to a wheelchair
- Being tall, and being able to always grab things on high shelves for short people
- Having a sense of humor and for people who can touch it and make me laugh
- Having at least a little bit of a 'Green Thumb' and enjoying growing things
- Earth Day. About time our planet got a day to be celebrate!
- For having the love of a good woman and being engaged to her
- My ability to read, something I take for granted but shouldn't
- Living in an age of good hygiene
- Celebrities who use their fame to do good
- The diverse range of cultures that mix together here in N.America and how they influence our dietary choices and entertainment
- Having shelter on a stormy day
- Any special skills I have that I can use to make others' lives happier or better
- Forgiveness, being able to give it and receive it

- The simple pleasure of seeing a Firefly flit across a field at dusk
- Fathers everywhere that do their best to raise their kids to be responsible adults

- The comfort and warmth of someone I love lying beside me as I fall asleep
- The universality of music; being able to hear music I love and feel at home pretty much anywhere
- My dad and stepmom, and still having them around to share life with
- All the many inspirational people I've met or have found out about
- The 60s, decade of my birth, and how they changed society in so many ways
- Birds and birding, which have given me many hours or peaceful happiness and increased my ability to notice detail
- People who are different than me and at times can help me see things in a new light
- Being able to sleep well and easily most nights, something that seems irrelevant until one lacks it
- People who devote themselves to public service
- Public parks that offer so many people so many ways to enjoy the outdoors
- The first blast of cool air on me when walking in an air conditioned building after being out on a steamy day
- Beer, as Benjamin Franklin believed "proof that God loves us"
- People who've believed in and encouraged my writing
- Crosswords; entertaining, ways to pass long hours in bus stations and way to keep my mind sharp
- The beauty of nature and my ability to appreciate it
- Having someone to worry about,even though I don't like worrying I like having someone that I can feel that way about
- My willingness to try new things
- For so many things to feel thankful for!
